Liverpool Chess Club and Signature Living hosted the English Rapidplay Chess Congress 2017 at the famous Liverpool Cunard Building on Saturday/Sunday 23rd/24th September 2017 with some LARGE CASH PRIZES available for the main events!

The lavish Cunard Building is one of the famous 3 Graces buildings of Liverpool waterfront, sat in-between the Royal Liver Building and the Port of Liverpool Building.

200 year Anniversary Match vs Manchester Chess Club

Manchester Chess club celebrate the 200 year anniversary of the foundation of the club on 3rd September 2017. Unfortunately the club in this name no longer exists but the teams around Manchester are putting team together under this name for a special event on the anniversary where they will take on Liverpool Chess Club once again!

Liverpool and Manchester played each other every year for 100 years from around 1855 to 1955, Liverpool will be putting a team together for this event and travelling together from Liverpool Lime street by train to Manchester Oxford Road just like Amos Burn and co did for so many years.

Visit of IM Malcom Pein

Former Liverpool Chess club player and International Master Malcolm Pein is going to visit Liverpool chess club for a simultaneous event against Liverpool club and Merseyside League chess players on 24th January 2017 at 7.30pm

All funds raised will go towards the restoration of the 1892 Liverpool Table which has recently been dispatched for repair and will hopefully be back on display in the club for the event.

Entry will be open to all club and non-club members and will cost £8 for adults (£5 for Liverpool chess club members)

A junior simul will take place at 6pm on the same night

Liverpool Chess club had 13 adult and junior members play against Aigburth with Aigburth coming out the victors
